About

Hi, I'm Kurt. I'm currently a Policy Advisor to the NSW Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government, Emergency Services and Youth Justice, the Hon. Jihad Dib MP. Prior to joining the NSW Government, I worked at Ashurst and regulation tech start-up, EasyCompanies.

I'm currently nearing the completion of Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Communication (Social and Political Sciences) at the University of Technology Sydney. In 2023, I was named Law Student of the Year at the Australian Law Awards.

Passionate about the transformative power of higher education, I'm proud to be a member of the UTS Council. Prior to joining Council, I completed three terms on the UTS Academic Board and the Faculty Board in Law.

During my time at UTS, I led a number of projects focused on enriching the student experience, as well as advancing equity and inclusion across student programs, leadership initiatives and governance frameworks. I'm currently a Senior Tutor at the Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research.

Alongside my studies, I'm passionate about social research. I'm currently involved in a project funded by the Australian Research Council exploring the impact of migration on civic participation within culturally and linguistically communities. I’m also involved in a network exploring the impact of AI on primary and secondary schooling.

Outside of work, I enjoy cycling, running and finding quaint bars and cool places for food (open to recommendations!).
