The Honourable Julie Bishop announced as closing keynote & program released

Welcome to the AIEC newsletter,

With only three months to go until AIEC 2019, the program is shaping up nicely.

We are delighted to announce our closing keynote speaker, The Honourable Julie Bishop for AIEC 2019. The former Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs and die-hard West Coast Eagles fan will join us to share her thoughts on international education for future leadership.

You can now browse the program online to see what else is on offer. Be sure to check in over the next few months as we provide more details and confirm the final speaker line-up.

The AIEC program is designed to cater to all sectors of international education and cover a broad range of topics and interest areas, from business development, recruitment and policy to student services, employability and learning abroad programs, and everything in between.

The AIEC committee’s task of curating the program gets tougher each year, as international education professionals become more specialised in their fields. We hope that this year’s program will offer something for everyone!

Make sure you’re ready for the action and register by Thursday 1st August to make the most of the early bird registration discount.

We look forward to seeing you in Perth.

Announcing Julie Bishop as a keynote speaker

One of Australia’s most recognised and respected politicians at home and abroad, The Hon. Julie Bishop, joins us at AIEC 2019 in her home town of Perth.

Scheduled for Friday 18th October, her plenary will cover her thoughts around leadership for international education.

Program available online

It’s always exciting to get a first look at what we’ll be discussing, deliberating and debating at AIEC.

Focussing on leading the way in international education, AIEC 2019 will once again provide a timely and important forum for our industry to come together to help shape and influence the future of our sector.

Enabling International growth and innovation in the Australian school sector

Interested in knowing what’s happening in the schools sector? You won’t want to miss out on this panel session that will showcase four major national projects funded by the Department of Education and Training and Enabling Growth and Innovation (EGI) program.

Delegates will hear from each of the research project leads about the purpose, methodology and key outcomes of the projects and the impact the projects will have on the school sector nationally.

Lightning sessions to replace e-posters

E-posters have a new name! Let’s be honest, AIEC posters were always so much more than just a ‘poster’. Given the rising popularity of this session format, this year we bring you ‘lightning sessions’.

Think interactive, intimate discussions fostering debate and discourse. Lightning sessions are organised by key interest area, and include three or four short ‘lightning’ presentations, followed by smaller and more intimate breakout discussions.

They might be a bit informal, but they still pack an informative punch. 2019’s program includes the following lightning sessions:

Delving deeper into key markets

Whether you’re working in business development and strategy, admissions and recruitment, marketing and communications, transnational education or partnerships, an understanding of the current challenges and opportunities in our major and emerging markets is crucial.

This year’s markets in focus sessions include:

In Focus: Nepal

In Focus: Latin America

Scaling WIL for international students – a café session to discuss success factors, challenges and best practices

Austrade will facilitate a panel discussion by Study NSW, Study Melbourne, SA Government, Study Cairns & Practera on learnings in building employability programs at scale.
