How lessons learned during the AIDS crisis can help contain COVID

In the 1980s Australians were hearing about the first cases of a mysterious virus - predominately affecting the gay community.

It became the AIDS epidemic and ended up killing more than 6000 Australians.

Almost forty years on, despite no cure, and no vaccine, there is effective treatment.

And now AIDS organisations are urging the National Cabinet to learn lessons from the AIDS pandemic to help vulnerable Australians live with coronavirus.
