Title: Crime and Punishment and Dementia

Abstract: What happens to people with dementia in the criminal justice system? In this paper, we examine the standard philosophical justifications for punishment, and the purposes for which offenders may be sentenced, in the light of the treatment of offenders with severe and progressive cognitive impairment in our legal system.
