Event description

Join us for a 1hr panel discussion on Zoom on Tue, 13 July at 7.30pm AEST and raise your hand for global education.

As a global community of everyday people empowered to end global poverty, we envision a world where every child can go to school.

But currently, around 250 million children are denied an education due to COVID-19. Never before have so many children across so many countries been out of school.

We know education is essential for children to dream and thrive. Which is why Australia must join world leaders in ensuring the COVID-19 pandemic does not undo the hard won gains achieved on global education over recent decades.

You will hear from Julia Gillard AC, the chair of Global Partnerships for Education (GPE) and former Prime Minister of Australia about why investing in global education is critical now more than ever.

Facilitated by Nicole Clements, former ABC TV journalist, you will hear from:

* Dương Phương Anh, Youth Ambassador of Global Partnerships for Education, Advisor to Plan International

* Thenu Herath, CEO of Oaktree

* Priyanca Menon, Associate at Teach for Australia

* Dr Alexandra McCormick, Senior Lecturer at University of Sydney

* Emily Abbott, Young Ambassador at UNICEF Australia

* Senator Deborah O'Neill, Senator for NSW and regional representative for Oceania on International Parliamentary Network for Education (IPNEd)

By joining our event and taking action on global education to call on our government to fund education, together we can use our collective voice to create change.

Discover how you can take action and ensure every child gets the education they deserve.
