Proposals for presentations of research papers on any topics in the history of economics are invited, for submission by Tuesday 2 April 2019—by email to the Convenor—with an abstract of not more than 300 words. Notice of acceptance or otherwise of submissions for presentations will be provided by Tuesday 30 April 2019.
SUBMISSION OF FULL PAPERS
Full papers are to be submitted by Wednesday 4 September, by email to the Convenor. These will be made available to conference participants, on the website under ‘Full Conference Papers’ by Wednesday 18 September.
REGISTRATION
Registration for the Conference is required by Friday 2 August 2019.
The primary venue is Seminar Room 650, Social Sciences Building. For a map of the University showing the location, go to: https://sydney.edu.au/maps/campuses/?area=CAMDAR and search for ‘Social Sciences Building’.
ACCOMMODATION AND TRANSPORT
Accommodation. There is no specifically designated accommodation associated with the Conference. The following five hotels are recommended, with walking distance to the Conference venue in parenthesis:
Beyond these particular options, the closest precinct with considerable hotel accommodation is the Haymarket/Chinatown area, adjacent to Central Railway Station — a 10 to 15 minute bus trip to the Conference venue.
Transport. Public transport services in Sydney generally require use of the official ‘Opal card’ for payment. The card is ‘free’ — in the sense that, if the card is purchased for (say) $20.00, the user has $20.00 of travel fares available via the card. They can be bought from most convenience stores and newsagents. See https://transportnsw.info/opal-retailers# .
From Central Station (or the central business district in general) bus services operate to the two roads adjacent to the main campus of the University: City Road and Parramatta Road. The Conference venue is adjacent to Parramatta Road so that buses servicing that side of the University are to be preferred (route #s 436, 438, 440, M10). The bus stop at the T-intersection of Parramatta Road and Ross Street is closest to the Conference venue. For bus information in general, see: https://transportnsw.info/routes/bus.
NOTE: On Sunday 6 October a major football Final will be taking place in Sydney. Therefore, Conference participants—particularly if planning to stay in Sydney into the weekend following the Conference—should consider booking accommodation and flights as early as possible. (This applies more to domestic flights than international flights.) Monday 7 October is also a public holiday in Sydney (Labour Day).
The Conference gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences in the University of Sydney and the School of Economics in the University of Sydney.
