The pandemic’s third year should spark a research and development boom, scientists say, with the Morrison government being urged to increase funding to move the country closer to the OECD’s top-10 spenders.

Science and Technology Australia made the case for more funding for return-generating investments to be included in the March budget, including the creation of a $2.4 billion research translation fund to help commercialise new work.
