Global F&B processing and packaging company Tetra Pak has appointed Boris Munster as managing director of its Oceania business, as former MD Andrew Pooch steps down after 35 years.

In his new role, Munster will be responsible for Tetra Pak’s business operations in Australia and New Zealand, succeeding Andrew Pooch who is retiring after more than three decades of service to the company.

PKN caught up with both Andrew Pooch and Boris Munster at the recent opening of the saveBoard beverage carton recycling facility launch in NSW. Pooch told PKN the time was right for his next chapter, while Munster expressed enthusiasm to take on the role and set up home in Australia.

Munster brings extensive global commercial experience in the food, beverage and retail industry, having worked across multiple regions in Europe and North America.

Inspired by Tetra Pak’s purpose of driving sustainability and commitment to making food safe and available everywhere, Munster joined Tetra Pak 15 years ago as a retail account manager in Belgium. Since then, he has held various roles within the company, including most recently as key account director for Contract Manufacturing in the United States and Canada, successfully growing the team and facilities there while also being heavily involved with the company’s global DE&I initiatives.

“Boris brings a strong commercial acumen and a broad set of knowledge from his experience working in Europe and North America, making him an outstanding candidate for the role. I’m confident that his hunger for success – combined with his years of industry expertise – will be invaluable in bringing the next chapter of growth at Tetra Pak in Oceania,” said Andrew Pooch.

Commenting on his appointment, Munster said he’s honoured to be given the opportunity to build on the great foundation set up by his predecessor Andrew Pooch, who has led Tetra Pak Oceania through considerable challenging times during the
pandemic.

“I am thrilled to take on this role and lead our amazing team at Tetra Pak Oceania to deliver innovative packaging and processing solutions for our customers and help them advance their sustainability goals by delivering solutions that can decarbonise the food industry. Oceania is well poised for its next chapter of growth and I look forward to working
with the team to take the business to new heights,” Munster said.

In his new role, Munster will be based in Melbourne, Australia.
