‘Megaphone Music’ lunch at Artful Dodgers Studios

Event description

Members of the Xavier Social Justice Network are invited to a ‘Megaphone Music’ lunch at Artful Dodgers Studios, Thursday 27th October.

Art and music have the power to change how we encounter the world. A song can take you to another place. A photo can spark emotion. A video, rap or sculpture can let you connect, explore and express different parts of yourself. But not all young people have access to this powerful creative exchange. The good news is you could change that.

Based in Collingwood’s creative heartland, Jesuit Social Services’ open access art and music studios supports young people to unlock their creative potential in the face of monumental barriers.

By barriers, we mean things like not having a safe home, missing out on an education, living with a mental illness, misusing drugs and alcohol, surviving poverty or trauma, experiencing racism, battling long-term unemployment, or spending time in custody. Things that make it hard to feel stable, inspired and connected to community.

The XSJN community are warmly invited to spend a day learning about Artful Dodgers Studios, including some of the wrap around services and programs that Jesuit Social Services provide.

Listen to their stories and music, enjoy a delicious meal and learn how you can support this important work.

Tickets are limited to 20. RSVP by Tuesday 25th October.

Ticket price is $30.00.
