Australia's approach to foreign investment is evolving, with the Federal Government releasing an updated foreign investment policy document. With an ongoing enhancement of its 'risk-based' strategy when reviewing foreign investment applications, the policy outlines a streamlined approach for lower-risk foreign investments, increased scrutiny for complicated and high-risk investments and an increased focus on compliance and enforcement. How can Australia step up its fight against domestic, family, and sexual violence? MinterEllison was invited by UN Women to develop a new report, which we understand to be the first of its kind in Australia: 'Financing of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence Initiatives by the Commonwealth Government in Australia'. The report unveils critical findings and future recommendations that will enable governments and non-government DFSV services to better target funding to improve outcomes over time. Regulators in Australia (and overseas) are stepping up their enforcement focus on greenwashing and taking an increasingly tough stance.
