Brisbane residents can now delve deeper into our city’s rich history, with the restoration of the Witton Barracks now complete. The restoration has transformed the heritage-listed former military site into a revitalised community space. The three cell block buildings on the site are of significant historical interest as they are the only purpose-built World War II interrogation buildings for Prisoners of War in Australia. The refurbishment includes refreshing the heritage cell blocks into bookable meeting or exhibition spaces, creating a multi-use facility within the former HQ building and landscaping the grounds to include a playground and picnic shelter. We’re lighting landmarks across Brisbane orange tonight to support Harmony Day. 🧡 Held every year in March, Harmony Day coincides with the United Nations International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination and is a celebration of our cultural diversity and respect for everyone who calls Australia home. Orange represents freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. At Council, we have worked hard to foster a culture where diversity is valued, inclusion is intrinsic and where people with multicultural backgrounds fully participate in the workplace and reflect the community we serve. Rumble Electrical: Proprietor
4ySolve traffic problems at their roots: 1. Minimum street width of 4 lanes for all new suburban streets - 2 parking lanes, and 2 for dual carriageway. 2. Don't install speed bumps and make more congestion. Solve the congestion issues that make people want to rat run! 3. When making kerbs, don't make them the 90 degree style. Make them the 45 degree style or shallower so that parked cars can put one wheel up on the footpath to leave the carriageway clear for cars to get past each other on narrow streets. 4. Give all signalized intersections left turn slip lanes. 5. Give all signalized intersections a courtesy right turn (where the red arrow drops off after the main thoroughfare has got moving) on a signaled right turn (and a green arrow after waiting).
