The Risk Quotient 2024

Event On: 29 February 2024
The Risk Quotient (RQ) is a flagship conference which aims to spotlight individual and societal risks and threats through the lens of risk communication. It brings together leading scholars and experts from academia, industry, and governments to develop an integrative research and practice framework to help society navigate pertinent risk issues through improved decision making.

Previous runs of the conference were held in Japan, China, and South Korea focusing on risks related to emerging technologies and the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

In February 2024, Melbourne will play host to the latest edition of the conference. Specifically, IPUR is partnering with the Melbourne Centre for Behaviour Change (MCBC) to explore the theme: Intersecting risks: Perils, Perceptions and Possibilities. The conference will be held at The Forum, Melbourne Connect.

The conference will explore how everyday risks are entwined with broader implicating risks such as natural hazards and health. Specifically, the dialogue will revolve around how the intersection of risks can be approached and navigated through behavioural adaptation, resilience-building, decision making, and risk communication. The keynote speaker for the conference is Prof Kathryn Bowen, Deputy Director, Melbourne Climate Futures, University of Melbourne.

The full programme of the Risk Quotient can be accessed here.

The conference will run 26-28 February 2024, and will showcase keynote talks, masterclasses, and workshops delivered by national and international experts. The conference agenda has been thoughtfully designed to give attendees the latest insights from the behaviour change field and actionable approaches to guide effective behaviour change interventions.
