Deputy, a fast-growing Australian tech firm that makes software for shift workers, has posted its maiden profit after revenue jumped 38 per cent last financial year, a performance that will likely earn it start-up “unicorn” status.
After a near-death experience when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, forcing the company to retrench one-third of its workforce, Deputy reached profitability this year without any lay-offs, chief executive Silvija Martincevic said.
