Financial resources for international students, migrants, people with a disability

Being an international student, migrant or living with disability can affect your access to financial support services and resources. It can be frustrating and difficult to know where to go. And it can be confusing for community services referring service users. As part of the COVID19, Financial Capability and Intersectionality Project, WIRE collaborated with migrant women, women-led groups, international students, and women with disability from various ethnic backgrounds to design these resources that respond to their priorities.

About the resources

NDIS Plan: You Choose It, You Control It

Preparing for your National Disability Insurance Plan and managing your plan can be a bit daunting. If English is not your main language or if you are new to the Australian disability services, it can be harder. This video aims to give women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds living in Australia with a disability some tips on how to make the NDIS work to support your needs and choices. Janet Curtain from Power in Culture & Ethnicity and Nimo Hersi collaborated with WIRE to create this video.

We have also created a Your NDIS Plan: You choose, You control it booklet (a resource for people abilities) where we answer five common questions from people with disability who are migrants, or from a non-English speaking background. Download the NDIS Plan booklet here.
