Energy Savers Summer e-news

Welcome to the summer edition QFF Energy Savers e-news. In this issue, we are pleased to launch a new video case study, two case studies about energy efficiency in meat processing and provide details on how farmers can register for an expanded Energy Savers program.

Video case study: Burdekin Cane Farm

The Farmer had already made significant water savings in his high infiltration soils by changing some fields to drip irrigation.  An energy savers audit assessed the farms irrigation systems and recommended a variable speed drive to reduce the power consumption of the drip irrigation system pump, saving $5,000 annually with a payback period of 1.2 years. See the video HERE. Full case study HERE.

Expanded Energy Savers Program

The Queensland Government has announced an extension to the energy savers program with up to 200 more energy audits, and up to $20,000 in matched funding to implement energy conservation measures from the audits.

There is a similar program for large customers.

Details of the program are available on the Department of Energy and Water Supply website HERE.

Energy Efficiency in Meat Processing

Two recent case studies added to the Energy Savers website highlight the energy savings potential for meat processing in efficient water heating and refrigeration systems.

Technologies such as variable evaporator fan speed control, heat pumps and consolidating refrigeration systems are investigated. The case studies also highlight a number of low cost easy wins.
