The Lancet Oncology Commission on Medical Imaging and Nuclear Medicine was established in 2018 with the aim to examine global access to imaging and nuclear medicine for cancer care as well as to analyse barriers to access to imaging for cancer care. New evidence is provided to demonstrate the benefits of imaging in improving cancer care and cancer survival and recommendations on how best to introduce and scale up imaging services in health systems are presented.
