Seminar: Sample preparation & staining for optical and electron microscopy

In this seminar, we will cover the key aspects of preparing and staining biological tissues for optical or electron microscopy:

• Sample preparation: methods of tissue fixation and how to select a fixative; methods of tissue embedding; tissue sectioning
• Sample staining: mainstream staining approaches; designing and performing immunolabelling experiments; troubleshooting common staining problems

The presentation will run for 2 hours, followed by 1 hour for questions or to individually discuss any current or upcoming projects with the presenters.
