We were grateful for the chance to have Science & Technology Australia's President Jeremy Brownlie, CEO Misha Schubert, and Chair of the Policy Committee Sharath Sriram provide evidence to the Senate manufacturing industry public hearing today. Our key recommendations to the inquiry: ✅ Australia needs a new Research Translation Fund to turn more of the country’s great #research into products and #jobs that can be made here – boosting #sovereigncapability. ✅ Funding for NCRIS facilities to create new ‘industry broker’ positions to help bridge the gaps between industry and research. ✅ A funding boost to the Research Training Program to fund PhD internship placements in industry. ✅ A national strategy to incentivise the manufacture of low-emissions technologies. Our thanks to the Committee Senators for their time and giving us the opportunity to offer ideas to strengthen Australia’s manufacturing future.
