(Pre-proposal call)
• Supplementary Voyages for 2019-20
(Application call)
MNF Granted Voyages on RV Investigator are funded by the Australian Government to deliver excellent marine research that is of national benefit. Applications are invited from marine researchers employed by Australian research organisations and their international collaborators.
Refer below for further details about application processes and key dates.
The Pre-proposal period is now open for Single year applications for 2020-21 and multi-year applications for 2020-21 to 2022-23 on RV Investigator.
Pre-proposals are an important step in the Primary application process as they allow researchers to examine opportunities to collaborate, leading to the potential for greatest national and scientific benefit to be achieved from each voyage.
Applicants for 2020-21 single-year Granted Voyages and 2020-21 to 2022-23 multi-year Granted Voyages must submit a brief, compulsory Pre-proposal before their Primary application.
Pre-proposal application forms and supporting information
Note that a Primary application for these voyage schedules cannot be accepted if a Pre-proposal has not been submitted.
DEADLINE
Pre-proposals must be submitted by 12 midnight AEST on Tuesday, 24 April 2018
Supplementary applications are now invited to fill unused capacity in the 2019-20 Granted Voyages schedule on RV Investigator. Berths are available on the following:
• 4 x research voyages:
Coral Sea; East Australian Current (off Brisbane); Southern Ocean (2)
• 2 x transit voyages:
Brisbane-Darwin; Darwin-Fremantle
Details of these voyages can be found here
Unused capacity arises where vacant scientific berths exist on scheduled research and transit voyages, as a result of the voyage scheduling process. This provides the opportunity for individuals or groups to perform underway research, undertake student training and/or test new equipment.
In addition to being ranked against the standard MNF application assessment criteria of scientific/technical excellence, national benefit and applicant's ability, Supplementary applications are also assessed for logistical integration with the Primary voyage (if applicable), and training and education criteria.
