We invite all BBC Vintage Collegians (Class of 1970 and earlier) to join us in this, the OCA's centenary year, for an afternoon of catching up with old friends, and making new ones, over a delicious lunch at Gambaro Restaurant.
This event will incorporate the 55 Year Reunion of the Class of 1965 as well as the 60 Year Reunion of the Class of 1960. Circumstances beyond our control resulted in the cancellation of the Class of 1970's Reunion earlier this year. For this reason, we are inviting these 'almost Vintage' Collegians to join us, and will incorporate their 50 Year Reunion into the celebrations.
Tickets for this centenary event are $60 per person, and include a delicious lunch of breads, main course with side salads, followed by tea or coffee. Soft drinks are included, and a cash bar will be available for the afternoon. Partners are very welcome to attend. Tickets can be booked online here, or by contacting Carol Stephens - details given below.
The afternoon will begin with pre-lunch drinks from the cash bar at 12pm followed by lunch at 1pm.
2020 has been a challenging year for us all, and we are happy to be able to offer this opportunity for our Vintage Collegians to come together, meet new faces, and re-connect and reminisce with old classmates. However, we do acknowledge with regret that travel restrictions may still prevent some of you from attending this year.
Booking is essential, so please share this invitaion with your BBC Vintage Collegian friends, and register for this event before the RSVP date of 18 November 2020.

Dear Old Collegians,
Today I took up my position to serve BBC across the areas of community engagement and philanthropy. In short, my role is to ‘friend-raise’ and fundraise for the betterment of the BBC Clan for both current and future generations.
By way of background, I was originally an Economics and Business Studies teacher who was drawn over to work in the not-for-profit management aspect of schools – and after a dozen years I can say I’ve loved every minute of it as I’ve been able to be part of school communities achieving incredible things together.
Also, being a mother of two boys who are now in their mid-twenties, I’m committed to boys' education. I’m also thrilled to join BBC in the lead up to the OCA Centenary Celebrations in 2020; however, for now, I will be immersing myself in the heartbeat of BBC and I look forward to meeting all of the Old Boys attending the OCA Hutchies Golf Day on Friday 18 October.
My office is located in College House so please let me know if you’d like to drop by to say hello, my contacts details are as follows:

Thank you to the many Old Boys who joined us at our 2019 Old Boys' Day. The Green, White, Black army turned out in record numbers to cheer on our First XV against The Southport School in a game that came down to the wire, with BBC going down to TSS 20-23.
The OCA extends its thanks to Headmaster Paul Brown and Ray White Sherwood & Graceville for their support of this event, as well as the many Old Collegians (and partners) who volunteered their time and resources to make the day the huge success that it was.

As 2020 fast approaches so too does the centenary celebration of the OCA. To mark the occasion, the OCA has produced a Centenary Cap designed to capture the history and spirit of the OCA.
This limited edition OCA Cap is designed and produced by Old Boys to commemorate the centenary of Barney Rudd forming the Association in 1920, the year after many returned from active service in WW1.
The Cap features high quality embroidery, original OCA badge, full War Cry along brim & blazer stripe under brim, with 'Old Boy' emblazoned on the back and Centenary dates on the side. A unique OCA item of memorabilia for all Old Boys. Proceeds from the sale of the OCA Centenary cap will go to a bursary fund to enable Old Boys’ sons to attend BBC in circumstances of need.
The OCA Centenary Cap is for sale for $35 from the College Shop. Contact Lesley Ross:

Appointment of College Chaplain, from 2020
I am delighted to announce the appointment of Mr. Stephen Ward to the position of College Chaplain at Brisbane Boys’ College from 1 January 2020. While Stephen will officially commence his employment in January of next year, he will take the opportunity to visit the College on a regular basis during Term 4.
For the past nine years, Stephen has been the College Chaplain at John Paul College, Daisy Hill, Queensland. John Paul College is an independent, coeducational, ecumenical day and boarding school with 2,000 students from early learning to Year 12.
In a previous role as College Chaplain at Warragul Regional College during the late 1990’s and early 2000’s, Stephen was awarded a ‘Centenary Medal’ by the Governor General and Prime Minister for service to youth in schools.
Stephen sees his vocation as a Chaplain as being the calling of God in his life. He says that, “there is nothing better than being in a school environment where you can help young people explore faith, values, service, identity, gifts and talents”. Stephen’s years of experience in Christian Ministry and in education stands him in good stead to serve the needs of the BBC community.
Stephen is married to Ros, and they have three adult daughters.
We very much look forward to Stephen joining the College next year and wish him every success in his role.
Sincerely
Paul Brown
Headmaster
On Friday 23 August, BBC Old Collegians from the Classes of 1949, 1959, 1969, 1979, 1989, 1999 and 2009 gathered to reminisce and reconnect. The 1949 and 1959 reunions enjoyed a sit down lunch at the College while over 300 Old Boys from the remaining decade reunions gathered at the Wests Bulldogs Rugby Club for an evening of good food, drinks and company.
Enjoy our gallery of highlights below.

This year's BBC Long Lunch was our biggest and best yet, with close to 300 Old Collegians, parents and friends of the BBC community enjoying an afternoon of fine food and company at The Rivershed, Howard Smith Wharves. MC Ben Dark provided plenty of laughs and entertainment while the silent auction, 50/50 fundraiser and raffle items raised money to help fund OCA Bursaries to help provide access to a BBC education for Old Boy families in financial need.
The OCA would like to express our deep appreciation to our major sponsors for this year's BBC Long Lunch - Ray White Sherwood and Graceville and Mazars.
Please enjoy our gallery of photos from the event - how many familiar faces can you see?
